This shade is a gorgeous shimmery blue. I had no issues with application or chipping. This was 2 coats without a top coat. I just love this polish!

The next one is Distant Memory which is a beautiful green with a matte finish (which you can see on the bottle tip swatch). Given it was summer though I decided to do a layer of China Glaze's Snow Globe over the top. Me loves!
These polishes are so easy to apply and last really well. I wish I had picked up more when I was in the US, cos you know... I need more polish in my life!

Yes, yes, yes, sigh, no buy time is back. Dee (and here if you like perfume) and I have decided along with Jade and Amy to do a no buy. The original terms between Dee and I were to no buy until our birthdays which happen to both be in May.

For me I wanted to pause my purchases as the nail polish spending has been pretty constant since November last year. The real problem being that in October I purchased 80 odd polishes in the US (please don't judge, many were drugstore ones on my wish list for ages). Look either way this is an insane amount of polish to have - even for me - where polish is actually a hobby. I like the finishes, the colours, the bottles, the formulas....and I don't drink or smoke although I assume that sometimes life would be less stressful if I did ;) You know I seriously want to delete this whole paragraph as it annoys me when people try to justify their purchases but I wont delete it... I'll just say I am Jac, I am a polishaholic and I have the income to support it.

Anyway back to the point of this post for anyone who is still reading - "hey I am on a no buy, so are some of my buddies and you are welcome to join us if you want". Much like any diet, I am thinking support will be key to success. Eighteen days in and I am going ok - no thanks to Julie G releasing 27 new shades in her 2013 polish line or Zoya's new spring collection (bastards!!!).

I'll update how I am going from time to time and if you want to join in for a week, a month or a year then come along, the more the merrier.

Wish us luck!

While in the US I was smart/addicted/cashed up enough to pick up 4 Julie G nail polishes - which I love. However back home in Adelaide I had NFI how to acquire anymore. Enter in Jesse Girl Cosmetics who is the manufacturer the JulieG nail polish line. I was able to order the entire JulieG Holiday 2012 Nail Polish collection (5 polishes) for $14.95 USD plus $10 postage. That's pretty impressive in my opinion.

Cut to 10 working days later (or so) and my polishes arrive securely packaged in a box including an absolute tonne of mineral eyeshadow samples - seriously it was a wod of samples, I was so impressed (and then promptly gave them to Dee). I know that there may be a desire to write off a line created by a "YT Beauty Guru" but seriously I now have 11 polishes and there is not a dud in the bunch. I have a couple of colours that I think are unflattering on me but what doesn't work for me might look gorgeous on someone else. The formula, brush and bottles are just lovely for the $3.99 USD price tag.

Not only do they do bundles of the Holiday collection you can also purchase the 2012 and 2013 lines (27 polishes) for $82.00 which is $3USD per bottle. I have worn but not taken pics of most the shades I own, so I'll be sure to make an effort to do some NOTD or group swatch posts. In the meantime JulieG has videos showing live swatches of her 2012 and Holiday collections. It goes without saying I will be purchasing more of her polishes once my no buy lifts.

I have no hesitation in recommending the following colours I own (and have tried) or Jesse's Girl Cosmetics website based on my experience:

Butterflies and Rosebuds

Dance in the Dark

Julies Fav

Mermaid's Tale

Under Mistletoe

Gift Wrapped

Big Red Bow

Ornamental (looks awful on my skin)

Light it up (nice glitter, not my taste)

Have you tried any polishes in this line? Any colours I need to get? Anything that you have tried from Jesse's Girl that is worth a look once my no buy is over?

Jacx

P.S I have purchased all polishes with my own money - just in case anyone was wondering. It was the beautiful Radha who got me looking at KBShimmer which I purchased from Harlow and Co. I recently made a purchase of 6 colours when they were restocked.

*side note: Indie polish = less to sell = more stalking = delayed gratification of purchases*

I was feeling a bit flat energy-wise after a full week at work (oh woe is me lol) and decided I needed something to spark me up. Enter KBShimmer's Showgirl polish which is described on Harlow and Co's site as:

"... this polish starts with a semi-sheer base of
black. Deep enough to cover in two coats, but sheer enough that the
glitters can show through. We then add medium sized rose glitter, a
small fuchsia, pink holographic glitter, and square sliver glitter.
Black holo glitter, black shred and black hex glitters complete this
polish. "

When I swatched this shade I realised it was a little sheer for me to wear alone (I do hate that VNL) so I used one coat of Rimmel's 60 seconds polish in Black Out (I hate the brush on this polish) underneath. Then I did 2 coats of Showgirl followed by 1 coat of top coat. I love the effect and this polish applied like a dream.

As I have indicated on here a few times recently 2012 was a rock bottom year for me health-wise. Some of my health low lights of 2012 include Whooping Cough, a broken arm and Shingles. One of the commitments I made to myself was to concentrate on restoring my health in 2013 and I thought it was time for an update. I thought it might also be good to do an update here every few weeks or months to share what's been working for me.

Supplements
I have been taking 3 supplements daily and I definitely think they have been making a huge difference. Pictured above they are

Bioglan's Cal C Powder

Morningstar Minerals Immune Boost 77 mineral supplement

Source Naturals Wellness formula.

Bioglan is readily available in Australia (I got mine at Chemist Warehouse) while I ordered the other 2 online from iherb. I have hyperlinked the locations above.

Diet
To be honest my diet has been a bit up and down. Some days are better than others but I am trying to eat more fresh food to avoid binges/lack of energy. While I haven't lost any weight (I have PCOS so weight loss is difficult at the best of times) I am feeling better for eating better.

Energy levels
If I am completely honest my energy levels have also been a bit up and down. Some days I feel great and other days I feel like something the cat dragged in. What I am noticing though on days when I do feel good is how great it is to feel good again. I am sure it took a while to completely deplete my immune system so I have no doubt it will take a while to build it back up again.

Other strategies
Taking leave when I need it. I decided to take an additional 11 days of Long Service Leave in Jan this year to rest and recover from the Shingles (my rash came up the week before Christmas - which I renamed Shinglesmas as a result). Part of me wants to push to do more but I am really trying to pace myself - I am in this for the marathon not for the sprint.

Being kind to myself is another thing I am trying. Instead of telling myself what a loser I am for being sick and lacking energy, I am instead listening to the fact I need rest and taking it. I think so many people waste energy on their negative inner dialogue - I don't have any energy to waste yet so that can piss off.

Drinking water is another thing I notice that pretty much instantly makes me feel better. Unfortunately this is something I struggle with so I have an app on my phone called Water Tracker which will literally prompt me to drink several times a day. I also try to break my day up into thirds trying to get through at least 600ml in each session. I am pretty sure that if natural selection had been allowed to run its course I would have died out years ago. How can a human being struggle to drink water??? Sheesh.

Anyways this is just a quick update to share what has been working for me so far. I hope this post finds you all happy and healthy

Once I started looking at indie polishes seriously, I started <strike>stalking</strike> browsing 2 sites in particular - Llarowe and Harlow and Co. Both of the sites ship internationally and feature different brands (with a little cross over). I highly recommend both sites by the way after my ordering experiences.

One of the brands carried by Llarowe that caught my attention was Emily de Molly. As I searched for swatches of her shades I stumbled across an interview with the creator of this brand on the More Nail Polish blog. Imagine my excitement realised this was a) an Aussie brand and b) I could order her polishes directly from her etsy store. <insert dance="" happy="" here=""></insert>

I ordered 3 shades from her store (trust me I could have ordered a tonne more) and eagerly awaited my nail mail delivery. The 3 shades I ordered were Somber Party, Black Forest and Studded Jeans which totaled $36.30 including postage. These certainly aren't the cheapest shades but in Australia her polishes are still cheaper than Revlon, Essie and OPI if you go and buy them in the stores (crazy right???).

Black Forest is a little sheer for me so I would recommend putting it over a base of black creme. The other 2 were opaque in 2 coats. I'll be sure to feature these in some upcoming NOTDs but the swatches look exactly the same as the bottle shots above (except for Black Forest which seems to have a sheer black jelly base). The packaging, formula and brushes of these polishes are spot on. Given how quickly these polishes arrived, the quality of the packaging and the products I purchased I definitely have this brand on my radar now.

If you live outside of Australia you can also purchase her polishes on Llarowe as stated above. So pleased to be able to give an Aussie brand some love too.

I put off getting this polish for the longest time because of my dislike of OPI and how hyped this colour was. Ultimately I have come to have an appreciation for some OPI shades (any polish brand is bound to create some stunners) and after eyeballing this shade for 3 months I finally ordered it.

This colour is the most gorgeous shade of green. It has a beautiful shiny finish and was opaque in 2 coats. Unfortunately for me this chipped the next day which is something I experience only occasionally with brands. While I found the wear time to be disappointing I think it is fair to mention that this shade was released in OPI's 2010 Hong Kong collection. As with any brand formulas improve and I have not had this issue with any of the other OPI shades I have tried so far.
There are a few nail polishes that get mentioned in hushed tones - Essie's Starry Starry night, China Glaze's OMG collection, OPI's My Private Jet and RBL's Aqua Lily. Well most of those polishes are the stuff of myth and legend these days but luckily for me, RBL decided to re-release Aqua Lily in their most recent 'Bring it Back' event and I snapped it up.

This shade is an amasing aqua with a contrasting purple shimmer. Aqua Lily was one of the shades in RBL's first fan collection - which means that the idea was submitted into a competition to be created into a polish. I've actually got 2 polishes from the original fan collection now - Aqua Lily and Cuprum. If you want to find out more about the fan collection and what inspired the shades Scrangie did a great post with swatches (as always).
Anyways back to this beauty. This polish applied nicely, the brush is easy to use and is not especially thick or thin. It is a little slower to dry than some of my other polishes so I used Sally Hansen's Insta Dry top coat on top. I feel like the top coat has diminished some of the shimmer - the tip on my bottle shot shows more shimmer as it is 2 coats of the polish alone.

All photos are taken with 2 coats of Aqua Lily with 1 coat of the top coat. I just love shades like this. Sadly this is sold out again but you can go on RBL's mailing list to be advised of future pre-sales in case this one comes up again. In the meantime there are a number of dupe posts if you want to create a version of your own on google - I haven't tried any so can't recommend them either way.
Happy Monday

1. Good health is everything
Trust me I couldn't even tell you all the health things that went wrong with me in 2012 without sounding like a crazy hypochondriac so I'm not even going to try. What I will say is that having pretty consistent health issues this year reminded me that health is something to be treasured and worked on. I'm doing what I can even now to ensure I have a healthier 2013.

2. Learn patience now or life will teach you anyway
I have often joked that I have so many other virtues that I didn't need to learn patience - I WAS WRONG. From being part of a recruitment process that started in April and is yet to be finalised, to having to wait for my husband so I could get dressed (ah yes broken arm I am still bitter about that) I was quite the ball of angry for part of this year. But at the end of the day I learned that while I can stress all I like, the things I do not control don't care if I am stressing so it's better to spend that energy doing something else.

3. I love travelling
I had suspected that I would love going to the US this year but OMG I LOVED it so much that we are planning to go back in 2015 (we have a cruise in October to get through first). I loved using different money, seeing different stores and landmarks and mostly I loved vacating my life for a short period of time. Having said that we saved every dollar before leaving and I would not go into debt for a holiday.

4. I love my husband
Being away in the US and leaving all of our everyday stresses (total #firstworldproblems) behind gave me time to realise how much I genuinely enjoy spending time with my husband and how lucky I am to feel just as in love with him as when we met. I know it's smushy but it's true so deal with it lol.

5. Friends are worth more than gold
While I was in a negative tailspin with the constant dramas and health issues of 2012, I had friends who listened to me whinge, made me laugh, made me feel special (even while I was covered in shingles) and generally kept me going. To those people I want you to know how thankful I am and how much your friendships have meant to me. Thanks especially to Sarah (still the smartest person I've ever met), Tara and Dee.

6. Sephora is indeed a wonderland
Well they couldn't all be deep and meaningful lol. OMG when I walked into Sephora at the intersection of Hollywood and Highland I swear I heard angels singing. It was big, glorious, clean, not too crowded and had a nail bar right at the front luring me in like a magnet. I am going back there again and it has to be said the service was incredible!

7. I gave into the polish addiction
I actually spent the 31/1/12 entering all of my nail polishes into a spreadsheet as my newest fear is that I will begin buying dupes. Too late - I discovered I had already done that twice and that I didn't own a polish I was 100% sure that I did. Anyways once I catalogued all 302 shades it occurred to me that 1. I have an addiction and 2. that's ok. I don't drink, smoke or have any other expensive hobbies so polish is it for me. That being said I am not interested in buying just for the sake of it, there has to be something different or unusual. Edit: as of the 04/01/2013 I now own 316 - I don't want to talk about it ;)

8. I discovered indie nail polish
So Hare polish has been on my radar for a while but I really discovered it after Rhada and Jen on twitter got me looking at 2 websites - Llarowe and Harlow and Co. OMG seriously look at those sites and tell me that indie nail polish isn't something really exciting in the polish world. Not sure where to start then look at A England, Hare and KBShimmer.

9. Skincare that works
I have to thank Dee for introducing me to Paula's Choice a few years ago but I really only got on the bandwagon a couple of months ago. I really enjoy using their products and particularly appreciate being able to use a moisturiser with SPF that doesn't break me out. I use mostly the skin recovery and earth choice ranges and have very little issues with congestion (unless I am lazy and use makeup wipes at night to take my makeup off).

10. I am not entitled
One of the things that I hate hearing more and more in the public domain is how we are entitled to things. I deserve baby bonus as I pay taxes and had a baby, I paid taxes so I deserve an age pension, we need better roads but I want a tax cut and so on. I earn a good wage, I have a strong social conscience (which I thank my parents for) so I am ok with my taxes going towards the roads I use, the hospitals I visit and welfare payments for those in need. After working for the government for more than 10 years and seeing the shame people feel for claiming payments they are eligible for, I don't buy into the "I want to spend my money how I want" argument. I am part of a society and I believe I should actively participate and contribute. Just my opinion.

11. Chanel Vitamlumire Aqua did not change my life
I bought it, I use it and it's lovely BUT so is Nars Sheer Glow. This is a good foundation that I believe has been overhyped (a pet peeve of mine) and is certainly not worth the $80+ AUD price tag it has in Australia. Its best selling point is that it disappears into the skin and has a sunscreen. Oh and the packaging is travel friendly. Meh.

12. Jo'mina was worth waiting for
This polish by Illamasqua has been on my wish list for years (at least it feels that way) and it was worth the wait. It is just as gorgeous as you expect it to be. Highly recommend!

It's a personal decision of mine that I try and find something to learn about everything that happens to me but as I work in learning that is no real surprise. Welcome 2013 - I look forward to seeing what you have to offer too.

Anything special you'll remember about 2012?

Hop Shop Go (HSG) is one of the many mail redirection sites that have entered to market to fill the need of redirecting parcels from the US to other locations such as Australia. I have ordered through this website before and recently went through the experience again to see how it would be this time.

My order consisted of the Urban Decay Vice palette (which I had in my hand while in the US and put back down again - STUPID!!!), a MUFE cream eyeshadow and a Tarina Tarintino Eyeshadow duo. Unfortunately when it arrived the duo and vice palette had broken shadows. I was devastated as TT is no longer sold at Sephora - waaah.

So I dutifully sent photos to HSG asking if they could compensate or replace my broken items. I was issued a claim form which I filled in. My claim took about 9 working days to process but I received an email yesterday to advise that the amount would be credited back to my account.

So would I recommend HSG - I would. You pay through the nose for shipping and you always risk items breaking but through my claim process I found their communication extremely polite and timely. As far as mail redirection services go I found them easy to use in terms of organising my order too. I was compensated the full amount of my damaged items meaning that I could purchase them again if desired. I would hesitate to order palettes again in the future though.

If you are in need of a mail redirection service, I think HSG deserves a look at.

Do you have any redirection services to recommend below?

One of the reasons I so enjoyed heading over to the US recently was the opportunity to check out the Spoiled nail polish collection carried in CVS drugstores. I had 17 polishes on my wish list and managed to get about 10 - but have no fear it did not break the bank as the Spoiled range is done by Wet N Wild and retails for around $2 US each.

So swatched here today is the colour 'The Parking Meteor Expired' which reminds me of a cross between China Glaze's Watermelon Rind and Emerald Fitzgerald. This is the first colour I tried and I am so impressed. All pictures are taken in natural outdoor light (unfortunately it is cloudy here so I couldn't get a sunlight shot). I am wearing 2 coats with no topcoat and this is day 3. No chipping - did I mention I'm impressed? Want to see more...

Apart from the price and range (Spoiled comes in 70 colours - holy cow), the only other note worthy thing is the brush - it be thick and wide. I found this reasonably easy to use with some practice and I'll be sure to catch the brush in a pic next time I do a spoiled NOTD.

Unfortunately I have not found a way to acquire these online as they are a CVS exclusive. Lucky Americans ;)

What colours have you tried?

1. What is your favorite drugstore makeup brand?
Actually I really don't have an overall favourite - I have favourites by products - Revlon for lips, Wet N Wild for eye shadow, Face of Australia for foundations and Australis for Mascara. If you made me choose just one brand to use for the rest of my life it would be between Revlon and Wet N Wild.

2. What are your favorite face, cheek and lip products?
Face - Physicians Formula Happy Booster Powder and Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation
Cheek - BYS blush in Peach Sundae and Face of Australia Illuminator
Lip - Revlon lipstick in Demure and Revlon Lip Butter in Sugar Frosting or Peach Parfait

3. Least favorite product?
Maybelline mascaras generally and ESPECIALLY The Falsies. Yuck!

4. What is the best makeup bargain?
Walking on Eggshells palette from Wet N Wild or Essence's Blue Addicted Nail Polish (you'll see why under number 7).

5. What is your favorite underdog product?
BYS eyebrow pencils and blushes.

6. A drugstore product that is overpriced?
Well ALL OF THEM in Australia but, generally I think mascaras are overpriced even in the US. In Australia I would have to point the finger of shame at Sally Hansen - my base coat is $16 AUD but only $6USD - I'm sorry but that's ridiculous.

7. Show your best drugstore dupe(s)!!

Sally Hansen Extreme Wear in Blue Me Away is a dupe of Zoya's Robin.

Essence's Blue Addicted Nail Polish is a dupe for Deborah Lippman's Across the Universe.

Julie G's Nail Polish in Julie's Fav is a dupe for Essie's Cute as a Button.

8. Drugstore product that isn't worth the hype?
'BB creams' (don't even get me started on the fact these aren't 'real' BB creams at all either) - if you actually want to try one then go on eBay and check out brands like Skin Food, Misha and Etude House.

If you got to the end of this post then consider yourself tagged baby. If you do decide to do this tag as a post please feel free to link your post below - I'd love to read it.

I have returned from my holiday overseas and I had an absolute ball. I hauled shoes, jewellery, makeup, perfume and of course polishes as you would expect. I'll definitely be posting some haul pics for those of you who want to see it all but in the meantime let me share some pics of my current favourite blush- Illamasqua's Zygomatic. I just loves it!
While it looks like a simple colour (the first pic is most true to colour -sorry about the swatches they are a little brown) it is absolutely lovely on the cheek and that sheen makes your skin look like magic. High 5 Illamasqua!

Hope you are happy and well.

I had planned on doing some new NOTDs, posts about the ABC (because I had a ball), some reviews and a very overdue empty post - so what happened? I'm not sure but here a couple of things that have contributed:

WORK - has been challenging as we restructured as of the 3rd of the month, not to mention having work coming out of my ears.

WORK AGAIN - I have been in an interesting recruitment process that took 5 months to tell me I had been successful. I am so happy with the outcome but in my role I have been supporting others who did not receive the news they were expecting.

HOLIDAY PLANNING - because I have no idea what I am doing I have tried (with my husband) to work out as much of this holiday as we can. I spent an evening a few nights ago on google street view trying to work out what places were near our accommodation. Why? I have no idea.

ANXIETY FILLED DREAMS - nothing better than waking up each morning after odd (sometimes disturbing) dreams before beginning another challenging day at work.

WORRYING OVER MONEY - I want to punch myself over this one as we have planned so well that our holiday is fully paid for before we go. But I do love a good stress out over money.

And so it could go on blah blah blah...

The reality is that this month has been somewhat "too full" for me. If I use an analogy of my energy being on a budget of $20 a day, then my dearest blog I have run out of my $20 often before lunchtime. And because I do blog for fun, I haven't pushed myself to go past my limits.

To sum up briefly -sorry (my bad) for posting only twice in September AND sorry for October because I am on holidays overseas for most of it but if I can I will be posting a few pics on here.

Hope as always this post finds you happy
I was so impressed by everything I felt compelled to jump on here immediately and post about how happy I am to be part of Adelaide's Blogging Community.

There are so many favourites I have for what happened yesterday (and I will do a proper recap post sharing pics and what happened in the next few days) that I feel like I have "stuff" inside me ready to burst. One of the reasons I got into blogging in the first place was because I have interest in learning more about products and ingredients so I was in my nerdy-heaven yesterday when we had a couple of different companies talking to us about their products and their philosophies.

But what I call the highlight was the blogging panel about monetising blogs featuring some bloggers who had monetised and some who had not. This is a topic I have felt uncomfortable about ever since starting to blog. There is so much finger pointing at people who receive PR samples etc... stating that they cannot be independent. Honestly I don't believe that receiving compensation makes you a sell-out but here is where it gets interesting for me.

After the last conference I did receive a number of samples from PR (which I am very grateful for), the problem was that I FELT COMPELLED to review them in a timely manner and where possible feature them on my blog. I was never asked to do this -but I didn't want to be a PR black hole so I put the pressure on myself. Ultimately because I am not willing to spend the time it takes to post everyday I found that I was no longer posting about stuff I discovered but rather stuff I received - which took the fun out of it for me.

Blogging for me is a release from my stressful and very serious full-time job and because I am the type of person who doesn't like to get something for nothing, PR samples are a bit of a double-edged sword for me. Let me guess - are you thinking did you take a goodie bag yesterday (hypocrite implied) - and the answer would be yes I did. And here's why I did.... It was stated several times that if you did not want to take a bag you did not have to, bags were provided to all bloggers rather than to me specifically and remember why I got into this in the first place - to learn about new things and products.

The products provided to us had a focus on Australian companies and natural products - which is right up my alley. There are several products included in the bags which I have been very interested to try and because I do not have an unlimited budget I may not have been able to try them for some time. I was never made to feel that my taking a bag I have to review them on here but I suspect I will (Sukin provided some items and you know how much I love them for starters).

So where to from here for my little blog - there are enough products provided yesterday to keep me busy for months so I'm not really 'open for business' but what I am is more educated about the monetising issue more generally. I know I will never monetise my blog because of my reason for starting this blog and what blogging means to me in terms of my whole life. But I am not and have not been looking down my nose at bloggers that do either.

The key to blogging for me is hearing your voice and what you have to say about things. If I start to just hear PR lines instead of what you have to say then the reason for me to read your blog has gone. It's the same reason why I don't read magazines. But that is just my personal opinion.

Anyway... I guess I just wanted to share and would be really interested in hearing your thoughts on this topic too. I am genuinely appreciative to the ABC organisers and the panel bloggers for sharing their thoughts on this issue.

Happy Sunday
Color Club's Revealed is a pink-peach with subtle shimmer. I had hoped it would be more peach than it was and decided pretty quickly that this colour was actually quite unflattering on me. Lovely shade just not for me.

All pictures are taken in natural light with 2 coats. The difference between the first pic above and the second below is that the second one is not in direct sunlight.
I love a good gimmick and I want to love cream blush (but I don't really) so I pounced when I had the opportunity to pick one of these up through my US-based friend and blogger Tammie.

I asked her to pick me up the colour Candid Coral in the hopes it would give me a peachy flush. I then proceeded to break my arm and leave this blush sitting for the best part of 4 months untried until this last week.

So here are my thoughts so far:

Packaging: Very cute no issues there. It also seems to close well which hopefully will slow the drying out process.

Smell: Not sure there is one. Kind of wish there was - is that strange?

Texture: It is kind of a play dough type texture somewhere between a cream and a powder. It's spongy and kind of strange. I have been rubbing it around and then applying it to my face with my fingers before blending out with my Real Techniques Buffing Brush. I kind of wish this had a shimmer as it seems to sit flat on my face.

Performance against it's claims: The back of the packaging (pictured above) says it melts into the skin and I am not quite sure of that. Maybe this works better if you have oily skin - on dry skin it doesn't seem to do much for me at all. Mind you it doesn't have outlandish performance claims either so it does get a thumbs up there.

Value for Money: Look this is at best a novelty item and for that it works nicely. I certainly wont be replacing my blush collection with the Bouncy blush range anytime soon but it's a nice reminder that makeup can be fun too. It is also quite sheer so probably best for light to medium skin tones only.

Have you tried this range? What were your thoughts?
Apart from the bucket I needed after reading the name of this polish I desperately wanted to LOVE this and I don't. It's lovely but the problem I have is that unlike China Glaze or Zoya, Butter London polishes are $14. I need this polish to be crazy special for $14 USD and it just isn't special. It's nice but that's it.
The glitter in this polish was dull although the polish applied well but so it should given it's price. I feel quite depressed about my BL experiences so far - I hope they release something that blows my mind because I want to love them so much

Ever had that instant screw up the nose or hair stand on the back of your neck reaction to something - even if you are completely uneducated about it? Well I have and here is my Top 5 "I don't like it" topics even if I have grown to have a better understanding about them now:

1. Double Cleansing: I cannot get past the idea that if the first cleanser was any good you wouldn't need the second one. Yes, yes I know that if you use heavy superglue style foundations and waterproof mascara these are probably a god send but to me it seems like clever product marketing to have us buy 2 cleansers instead of 1.

2. White lab coats on cosmetic sales people: I must admit I do get my back up at the idea that there are magical medical ingredients in makeup and skincare and that you can trust me because I have a white lab coat on. I'm sorry but if you have to make up a word to explain what your product does then I'm probably going to be suspicious of you.

3. Made up words that sound like real ones: Drives me crazy! We've all seen it though, made up words that sound like real ones and it doesn't only exist in the cosmetic world either (yes Palsonic I am looking at you). At best it is misleading and at worst it is downright deceptive.

4. Our product lasts for 100 hours: I don't need my makeup to last for 24, 48 or 72 hours, you don't actually make any that last that long either so how about we stop with the bullshit claims shall we? There is a great line JFK about how theoretical physics can tell you that you can hang an elephant over a cliff from its tail and I kind of think these people are also responsible for the ridiculous long wearing claims we see on makeup now. And don't even get me started on the mascara claims (let's save that rant for another day).

5. Sheer nail polish: Ok I can accept the french manicure colours being sheer but anything else that's just crazy talk. Do not make a gorgeous shimmery polish only to have it be streaky and sheer with ugly VNL everywhere. In fact this hatred was one of the main reasons I swore off Essie and OPI for so long. I still will not purchase one of their polishes without checking swatches first. Sheer nail polish I hate you so hard!

Well.... that was cleansing and a little awkward lol. But I hates what I hates - logical or not. Am I alone here? Would you like to share- if you do happen to do a blog post about your "dislikes" link it below.
This NOTD is a lesson in not buying nail polish by name. This colour is insipid on me and very unflattering despite the pretty name. The finish is dated and I would recommend almost any other polish Orly made in preference to this one.

All pictures taken are with 2 coats and please excuse the mess on my middle finger - clearly I was easily distracted even while applying this polish lol.
This is why I should never buy anything pretty. I got this eyeshadow 6 months ago and all I have dared to do so far is swatch it for this blog. Just hopeless lol.
