An Overview of Zoya's Intimate Collection

As an avid YT watcher I had become aware of nail polish brand Zoya some time ago. However unlike OPI, Essie and others it wasn't easily available so I hadn't done anything about acquiring any. So a couple of months ago when I was bored (can you guess where this is going?) I decided to order Zoya's Intimate Collection from eBay for just over $50 (including p&h).

I have never purchased a whole collection of anything before but when you see the pictures of each polish below you'll understand why I ordered this one. I said in my April favourites that I have mentally split this collection into 2 parts - the others and the purples -

From left to right: Dove, Gemma and Jules

From Left to right: Dannii, Marley and Caitlin

Test subjects: So far I have tried Danni, Marley, Jules, Dove and Gemma.

The formula - At first I felt this was slightly runny and lumpy but like a good China Glaze shade these all dried smoothly. Once you get used to it, the formula is quite lovely. I would consider this a great polish for beginners - it's kind of hard to mess it up. It goes without saying that Zoya are B 3 Free.

The brush - The brush is a good size, I found it easy to vary the amount of product and to cover edges of nails without getting polish everywhere. Another reason why I think this is a great beginners polish.

The finish - I am completely impressed. This collection has shimmer, creme and duochrome finishes and all of them achieve perfection. These babies didn't chip (except Gemma which I will cover separately below) and in fact topped with Seche Vite (which I was completely over before trying Zoya) was the pefect marriage for long lasting almost completely chip-free nails.

Now, let's talk about Gemma. This shade is what I had hoped Essie's Sew Psyched would be - but it completely fell apart and chipped off within 24 hours. I'm not saying this is a dud as I was doing some pretty active things around the house during this time, but in comparison to the rest of the polishes I have tried from this collection, it didn't match up.

Packaging - I like the bottles - the handle is nice and solid which again supports easy, fuss free application. The bottles are similar in size to Essie bottles making it easy to store these in multiples. Each bottle has 15ml/0.5 fl.OZ and according to label the bottle last for 24 months (although with careful storage I am sure they would last longer than that - or should I say I am counting on it? lol).

There is NOTHING I don't like about these polishes. I have also worked out that you can order Zoya from Nails etc (yay) so they are also pretty easy to get hold of. If you love polish and you haven't tried any shades please give Marley or Dove (the stars of the collection IMO) a try.

You'll see some of the Zoya's feature in my NOTD pics in the next few days.

Have you tried Zoya polish? Any shade recommendations?

  2. Zoya have some great colours. Check out their Pulse collection for vampy winter shades if you're into darker colours. I love Colbie & Blair, both deep vampy shimmers.

  4. Ashleigh - if it is anything like me, it will be love at first sight. Marley was soooo gorgeous and long wearing. I also loved Dove -which I am calling the shade of winter 2011 - gorgeous pale creamy grey. NOTD to come.

Vita - I am onto it. I love dark colours with my pale skin especially in winter. They also do some crazy good blues (Tallulah is on my wish list).

Su - Dannii is lovely. Even though it has heaps of shimmer - it is just that shimmer NOT glitter. I highly recommend - one of the best purple with gold shimmers I have seen.
